Winter weather advisory for snow, freezing drizzle issued for Joplin area

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LIGHT SNOW AND FREEZING DRIZZLE...

.MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD NORTHWARD TODAY WITH UPPER LEVEL
ENERGY MOVING IN FROM THE WEST AND INTERACTING WITH THE INCREASING
MOISTURE. LIGHT PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN THIS AFTERNOON
AND MAY BEGIN AS A MIX OF LIGHT RAIN...LIGHT SNOW AND SLEET. AS
THE TEMPERATURES COOL BY LATE AFTERNOON...THE TRANSITION TO ALL
LIGHT SNOW WILL BEGIN. DRIER AIR WILL BEGIN TO WORK INTO THE AREA
ALOFT WHICH SHOULD CHANGE PRECIPITATION OVER TO FREEZING DRIZZLE
DURING THE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT HOURS. THE FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL
THEN CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY MORNING.

OVERALL...WINTRY PRECIPITATION TOTALS WILL BE LIGHT WITH LESS THAN
TWO INCHES OF SNOW EXPECTED AND LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH OF
ICE. THERE MAY BE ENOUGH GLAZING OF ICE TO PRODUCE SOME TRAVEL
PROBLEMS FROM LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY SNOW AND FREEZING DRIZZLE...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 3 PM CST THURSDAY.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...ALL OF THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND
  EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS FOR LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY
  THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...A TRACE UP TO TWO INCHES OF SNOW
  IS EXPECTED.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF ICE WILL BE
  POSSIBLE...CAUSING A GLAZING TO DEVELOP ON EXPOSED SURFACES.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF LIGHT SNOW AND FREEZING DRIZZLE
  WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON
  INTO EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW AND FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL
CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND
LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
