Eugene Freedman, the former Enesco CEO who is credited with the discovery of artist Sam Butcher and his Precious Moments figurines, will continue to work with Precious Moments, Inc., now that the company has taken over creation and marketing of the figurines from Enesco, (See the story earlier today on The Turner Report.) according to Business Wire.
Freedman retired earlier this year as Enesco's top official and was replaced by Cynthia Passmore-McLaughlin.
Precious Moments creator Sam Butcher, a former Carthage resident will be discussing the future of the figurines during the annual Collectors Convention, which began today in Hawaii.

I am a former employee of the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage. A big complaint over the years with many of the customers was how difficult it was to keep up with the collections. When Enesco first took over the figurine line, about 10-12 new figurines were released annually. This was fairly easy for those avid collectors to keep up. Then as the years went by, Enesco became greedy (I am guessing) and the annual release increased from 10-12 new figurines per year to 40-50 (counting all of the seasonal releases). At about 45-50 dollars per figurine, this is a little hard for many to afford. Perhaps if the greed wouldn't have taken over and the number of annual releases increased so much, Precious Moments figurines would have been easier financially for the common middle class citizen to keep up.
