Blunt appointee resigns under pressure

I always like that "resigns under pressure" line.
Randa Hayes, the head of the Missouri Business Development and Trade Division, resigned today, after the news came out Tuesday that she had been charged with felony theft, forgery, and misdemeanor theft while living in Illinois.
It wasn't as if Ms. Hayes had a long record of proven business acumen that put her at the top of the governor's appointment list. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, it appears that her biggest qualification was her ability to raise money for Blunt's election campaign.
According to the Post-Dispatch article, Ms. Hayes, 32, "organized a fundraiser for Blunt last year that drew 250 people and raised more than $50,000."
Naturally, Republicans are shocked about Ms. Hayes' previous record, and Democrats are crowing about what this says about the people the governor is putting in charge of Missouri government.

I've searched the Joplin Globe's archives for this story and cannot find it. Do you think it's their website's weak search engine or a reluctence to print anything controversial about a Blunt. I also found nothing about Roy Blunt's attempted insertion of a tobacco amendment into the Homeland Security Bill back when it was legislated. It seems newsworthy to me.

The Globe would have run the Associated Press version of the story if it ran the story. It usually does not put AP stories on the web so they don't end up in the archives.
