In a statement, Emery said he attended the meeting for exactly that reason — to represent his constituents and defend the Constitution.
If he is truly interested in “representing his constituents,” then he should focus on real issues, not this citizenship drivel.
There is plenty of other pressing business in Missouri. We are facing budget cuts. We need jobs. We need to control spending. We need to figure out health care.
Emery should be fighting for those things. Not this work of fiction worthy of a David Baldacci book.

Globe to Ed Emery: Get a clue!
Ed Emery's infatuation with birthers did not sit well with the editorial board at the Joplin Globe. Today's editorial spanked the Lamar Republican, telling him he needs to pay attention to the taxpayers' business and instead of flirting with conspiracy theorists:

The press and bloggers have no standing to "spank" anybody.
Hopefully Emery will smartly reply, "Is that the best you got?"
To which the Globe, and other media both old and new, who thinks they are relevant might say, "but, but, but..."
Emery is and always has been a lose cannon. He goes off on something that "he thinks" is worth while i.e. the birther thing and spends way to much time, effort and money on something that has already been proven. Look at the car accident he caused a few years ago. HE was driving on the wrong side of the road (for reasons unknown) and fought the ticket! Why didn't he just say he was in the wrong, pay the ticket and go on? NO, he drug it on and on for months...of course, he ended paying the ticket. He just loves to get his name in the paper and doesn't seem to care for what reason. And just think, he thinks he's going to move up the political ladder soon. Scares me!
Wish the press would quit using Ed Emery and Jack Sportman's name with Lamar. Lamar's a nice town and doesn't need those two names associated with it. Ed Emery doesn't even live in Lamar, he lives about 20 miles northeast of Lamar and doesn't even have a Lamar address. His children were home schooled but if they weren't they would not have attended Lamar schools. He doesn't have a Lamar phone number either. So why do they say Emery/Lamar? We've got Sportman, so let someone else have Emery.
