Poll: Talent leads Steelman, Kinder in early poll on Senate race

It's way too early for anyone to take polling for the 2012 U. S. Senate race in Missouri seriously, but it's fun nonetheless.

A new poll shows former U. S. Senator Jim Talent as the top vote-getter in a three-way primary race with Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman, who is the only candidate who has officially announced.

Talent is preferred by 53% when pitted against announced candidate Sarah Steelman,
who gets 17%, and Peter Kinder, who has half of Talent’s support, at 26%. Only 4% are
not sure. Last Wednesday’s release showed both Talent and Kinder leading McCaskill
by two points and the incumbent beating Steelman by one, in what should be yet another
in a string of very evenly matched races for this seat.

62% of her own party’s most fervent voters still have no expressed opinion of Steelman,
the former state treasurer, nor do 57% know enough about Lieutenant Governor Kinder,
so both have plenty of time in about a year and a half to raise their profiles. Those who
have heard of the two are overwhelmingly positive, 34-9 for Kinder and 25-13 for Steelman.

Nominating No Talent will guarantee McCaskill victory in 2012.

Talent's time as a prosecutor where he framed God only knows how many people who were later let go on his journey "to the top" will stop him from ever holding office again.

C'mon now, someone's GOT to run against Nixon for Governor. We can't put all our talent into the senate race and let Nixon skate back into office.
