The horror of Sunday's tornado continues to grow. The latest, perhaps most unbearable news I have come across while searching the internet for information is the news that a one-year-old, who was ripped from his mother's arms by the tornado, has been identified as the 125th victim:
Family members said Wednesday that the body of Skyular Logsdon, the 16-month-old boy who disappeared during the tornado Sunday in Joplin, had been identified at an area morgue.
In a city full of tragic stories, the search for Skyular, who was torn from his mother's arms by the storm, attracted national attention.
His relatives spent days checking hospitals, shelters and a temporary morgue at Missouri Southern State University. They dug through debris piles near his destroyed home, seeking any sign of him.
Skyular 's great-uncle, Frankie Reynolds, made the identification, said Ronda Brewer, the stepmother of the child's uncle. Skyular's remains were at a morgue that his family hadn't previously checked, she said.
Reynolds said he had no doubt that the remains were Skyular's.
The Associated Press reported that his mother, C.J. Tate, also said her son's body had been found.
The child's father, Cord Logsdon, was released from the hospital Wednesday evening. Relatives plan to establish a fund for donations to help the family, Brewer said.
