Today's Springfield News-Leader has claims from the Springfield third grade teacher who has been charged with promoting prostitution and her husband:
Both of the Fiedlers told authorities they thought they were arranging meetings between employees hired to give massages and customers, according to the probable cause statements in the case.
But authorities say data from the cell phones of Mark and Laura Fiedler as well as the phones and testimony of several of the women thought to be involved in the alleged prostitution ring, say otherwise.
According to court documents, both Fiedlers received text messages and emails that indicated that sexual services were being offered.
Both Fiedlers appeared in court Tuesday to be arraigned on the charges and were subsequently released. Neither was required to post bond.
Dee Wampler, who is representing Laura Fiedler, a Springfield teacher on administrative leave, said the charges came as a surprise. He said they “certainly plan to enter a plea of not guilty.”
Ms. Fiedler has been on a paid leave of absence from her school for exactly one year today.
