Federal child pornography charges filed against Joplin man

Child pornography charges were filed against a Joplin man today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

According to the complaint, Robert M. Holley, 44, received and distributed child pornography between September 1, 2019 and March 10, 2021.

During the execution of a search warrant Monday by the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, officers also discovered methamphetamine and Holley was carrying a semi-automatic handgun in his waistband, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Jasper County Circuit Court records indicate Holley faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.

The investigation into Holley began with a CyberTipline report generated by Google after numerous child pornography files were discovered in a Google Drive account, according to the affidavit.

"Multiple images depicted minors, as young as infants, engaged in sexually explicit conduct." The images included children being sexually abused while they were being held in bondage, the use of foreign objects on underage girls.

Holley initially denied knowing anything about the child pornography, the affidavit says, but "after being confronted with evidence located during the search, Holley confessed that he had searched for and had been viewing child pornography for over an year."

Holley will be arraigned on the meth and weapons charges 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 24, according to Jasper County Circuit Court online records.

Holley was released on his own recognizance.
