Joplin R-8 Board accepts one teacher retirement, three resignations, does not renew seven contracts


During a closed session March 15, the Joplin R-8 Board of Education accepted a teacher retirement, three resignations and did not renew the contracts of seven certified employees.

The Board also hired 13 teachers and four administrators.

Jordan Adkins, Kristopher Garrett and Tracy Newell were hired as principals at Irving Elementary, Cecil Floyd Elementary and North Middle School, respectively, and Sarah Coyne for a classified administrative position.







Adkins had been an assistant principal at Irving, Garrett an assistant principal at Cecil Floyd and Newell was principal of Eisenhower Middle School in Manhattan, Kansas.

The board accepted the retirement of Jodi Rogers and resignations of Cynthia Boren, Emmanuel Flores and Erin White.

Teachers whose contracts were not renewed were:

Debra Radigan
Dora Eastin
James Whitney








All of the non-renewals were unanimous, with the exception of Jordan. Board member Brent Jordan abstained and did not take part in the discussion.

Substitutes: Teresa Konrady, Jennifer Barksdale, Maria Socha, Abby Rodgers, Aurora Glaubitz, Joseph Mitchell, Lucy Hamilton and Sylvia Haase.
