The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office has charged a Carthage man with felony stealing in connection with the sale of stolen catalytic converters.
According to the probable cause statement, Timothy Wayne Snethen (DOB 1983) was being investigated by the Carthage Police Department for allegedly selling the converters and stolen vehicles.
During the transaction, none of the information was gathered by the purchaser as required by RSMo 407.300. During the search warrant on 7/19/2023, several forms of documentation were recovered and showed SNETHEN was selling converters.
During an interview with SNETHEN he admitted he did not have the documentation as required by RSMo 407.300. Two hundred and forty-seven (247) converters were recovered during the search warrant.
SNETHEN stated he anticipated receiving fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) in US currency from the sale of the (247) converters. SNETHEN stated the amount of converters he had on site was from the past 60 days.
During the interview, SNETHEN was adamant he would continue to conduct business because “the law could not stop him."
Online Jasper County Circuit Court records indicate Snethen is awaiting trial on a felony charge of receiving stolen property. Following a Joplin Police Department investigation, Snethen was cited for having 88 stolen catalytic converters.

It would be intersting to see the estimated cost to repair the damage done to all the vehicles the 247 converters were stolen from. Well over a hundred vehicles.
The scrap value of the allegedly stolen converters allegedly found in this dirtball's possession is much less than the costs to the victims and the insurance companies.
No doubt some of these vehicles were totaled.
In an eye for eye world upon conviction for illegal converter scrapping the judge would order the defendant's phone and business records seized, and send the tow trucks to all this guys associates to collect their cars and trucks. Stop cutting when they have 247 more converters in the pile.
Mr dirtball converter scrapper would probably be wanting a very long sentence, and confess to more of his crimes to stay safe behind bars.
Arrested in Jasper County, he won't get jail time unless he has a long criminal history. They are as light on sentences as Soros bought judges
Maybe they should put the whole story on here not just what they want people to see. Try first start with this is a place of a business. A metal recycling business that buys cars that cuts converters off junk cars. So in 60 days there's 300+ cars 800+ aluminum wheels 200+ batteries 500+ starters and alternators and 247 converters. It's funny how only converters that was stolen was the full one's so they Left 40+ empty there along with the cars wheels batteries starters and alternators that's not stolen but the full converters was stolen.
