Joplin Globe's lead story in today's edition was published 18 days ago in the Turner Report

The lead story in today's Joplin Globe print edition may be news to those who continue to rely on the newspaper for their daily dose of news, but the story is not exactly new.

Globe readers learned that two Joplin residents, Aaron Blake and Emily Sturgis, were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of mail fraud, bank fraud and identity theft.

From the story:

Aaron M. Blake, 27, and Emily A. Sturgis, 30, are charged in the indictment handed up Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court in Springfield with committing the crimes from December 2022 to Jan. 26, 2023, when they were arrested by Jasper County sheriff’s deputies.

If the indictment was revealed August 29, why was it not in the Globe until September 16. What happened that made it top of page one news?

The reason appears to be a news release sent to area media (including the Turner Report) by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, which included information provided by the U. S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

While the Globe waited for the news release, the Turner Report posted the indictment August 29, the day it was issued.

From the August 29 Turner Report:

A grand jury indictment of two Joplin residents on felony conspiracy, bank fraud, mail theft and identity thefts charges was unsealed today in U. S District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

According to the indictment, Aaron M. Blake, 27, and Emily Anna-Lee Sturgis, 30, stole items out of numerous mailboxes, including information that enabled them to open credit card accounts. Blake faces nine felony charges and Sturgis eight.

Blake and Sturgis stored the items they stole in a Carthage motel room, according to the indictment.

To be fair, the Globe publishes many news stories that never appear in the Turner Report. It is still the area's newspaper of record.

But the one thing I don't do is take a story that ran two and a half weeks earlier in the Globe and act like it's brand new, never revealed before information- and put it at the top of page one.

Truth.
The Globe is a dinosaur and has been irrelevant for years. Their online version is laughable and yes, residents that rely on the
Globe for information are truly missing out.
I have been clicking on TTR daily for quite some time, now. Always informative. Stay the course.

The Turner Report - is always ahead in Reporting the Local News.

It is a Shame that the Joplin Globe, the FourStatesHomePage.com, and the Local Television and Radio Stations - with such Large Staffs and Budgets - do not have the ability to stay on Top of the News and what is going on in the area - by searching Police Filings and Records and maintaining a multitude of contacts and truly answering the - "Who, What, When, Where, How, and Why" - of the News.

I believe the Majority of these Reporters - are just Phoning it in - Not Digging and looking for the News - their Journalistic Favoritism and Need to Not Offend Anyone or their Advertisers. When have any of the above mentioned Media Outlets - just written a quick news caption and then failed to do any follow up or Investigative Reporting.

We have Lost the Integrity and Independant Reporting - that made Journalism a Proud Profession - - The Turner Report - - shows that he is not afraid to Report and Bring to Light what is Truly Go On - Locally.

We Salute - The Turner Report - Good Job!
