Carthage man free on $50,000 bond after being charged with possession of child pornography

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney charged a Carthage man with possession of child pornography.

Jasper County Circuit Court online records indicate Carlos Cesar Solis DeLeon (DOB 2002) was taken into custody Friday and is free after posting a $50,000 bond today. His arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. January 7.

The Carthage Police Department was investigating the sexual assault of an underage girl when it discovered a DeLeon had received a video of the assault on SnapChat, according to the probable cause statement.

Later, a review of DeLeon's SnapChat account revealed that he was in possession of child pornography, specifically a video sent to him by a 15-year-old juvenile victim that was having sexual intercourse with an adult male from another case.

Further investigation of DeLeon's SnapChat account confirmed his identity as Carlos Solis DeLeon and verified that the video had been sent from the juvenile's SnapChat account to his account on September 18, 2025.

Additionally, review of the account revealed another image of the juvenile, depicting a partial view of her torso and face, which was sent on October 10, 2025. This indicates that DeLeon and the juvenile remained in contact after the initial video was sent, despite his knowledge of her age as a minor.

During the juvenile victim's interview, she disclosed that a male by the name Carlos DeLeon was pursuing her at parties when they would see each other and the victim advised that she advised DeLeon of her age, however he still requested nude photos and videos of the juvenile victim.

During DeLeon's interview, he initially denied receiving any concerning videos from the victim. DeLeon stated that the victim sent him a friend request on SnapChat and that he accepted it. During the interview, he stated that although he had exchanged SnapChat messages with the victim, he had never requested explicit images or videos from her.

When asked directly whether the victim had ever sent him a concerning video or explicit images, DeLeon again stated no.

As the interview continued, DeLeon admitted that he had, in fact, received the video in question. He acknowledged that he viewed the video and stated it depicted the private areas of both a male and female.

When asked how he came to possess the video, DeLeon stated he might have asked the juvenile victim for it while he was intoxicated but claimed he could not remember clearly. His statements conflicted with evidence obtained from the SnapChat search warrant return which confirmed the victim sent the video directly to DeLeon's account.

Wow!

That's amazing and scary at the same time! What is going on?

Even more scary, if you do a search like that for last names Smith or Jones you aren't even allowed to because there are so many. Why could this be?

It's time to buy a clue or two!

8:24PM - You probably need $5K on a $50,000 Bond unless it is an all-Cash Bond.

I'm just wondering if this guy will now jump bail and leave this area.. Have more victims... He should have had a higher bail. Or no bail at all.
