Nevada to remain in school funding lawsuit

The Webb City R-7 Board of Education recently pulled out of a lawsuit filed by more than 250 school districts who claimed the Foundation formula, through which Missouri public schools are funded, is not fair.
The Nevada R-5 Board of Education has elected to remain in the lawsuit, according to an article in the Nevada Daily Mail last week.
Superintendent Ted Davis says the new formula will provide less money than the school would get under the old formula, if that formula were fully funded.
"Under the present formula Missouri schools are currently underfunded by $800 million so under the new formula we would be getting less, and it would be spread out over seven years," Davis said, according to the article.
