Forgent Networks, an Austin, Texas-based technology company is suing seven cable and DBS operators, including Cable One and Cox Communications, claiming their use of digital video recorders violates one of the company's patents, according to an article in Broadcasting & Cable.
Other defendants are Comcast, Charter Communications, Time Warner Cable, Echostar and DirecTV.
The patent, No. 6,285,746, according to the article, is titled "Computer-controlled video system allowing playback during recording."
