Star, Post-Dispatch pick up Nodler story

The Gary Nodler theater meltdown has spread across Missouri, thanks to Associated Press. If you remember, our state senator had a public argument with a caregiver after complaining because the developmentally disabled adults she had taken to the theater were too loud and were not letting him enjoy "Fantastic Four."
The Nodler story has been picked up by the Kansas City Star and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. And if you check the original story in The Joplin Globe and the comments that have been posted by readers, only a handful are backing Nodler.
I will reiterate my original point; it really does not matter who was at fault in the initial incident, it is Nodler's reaction that has blown this into a full-scale embarrassment for the Joplin Republican.
Nodler's attempts to bully a 20-year-old college student smack of abuse of power. And his ludicrous claims that he was set up smack of either desperation or paranoia. If someone was really out to get him, this would have happened next year when he is coming up for reelection.

There are several inaccuracies in Max McCoy’s recent article about the incident at Northstar Cinema. McCoy failed to report that when we were leaving the theater after a brief encounter with this young woman that lasted only a few seconds, we found the theater manager at the ticket taker’s stand surrounded by a large group requesting refunds. We confirmed to the theater manager that the noise was too loud to hear the film. I never “fetched the manager” anywhere. I told him that one person was using foul language and he asked me to point that person out. After doing so I left the theater. I also never contacted the employer about this incident until after the news media called me telling me that this employee had made these false allegations about my conduct. I then contacted the employer and requested an apology from them because of the false allegations to the press, not because of her misconduct at the theater. I have never asked anyone to have any disabled person removed from a theater, and I have never asked this young woman’s employer to fire her. I did request an apology for the attempt to circulate lies to the news media and public and expect to receive it. I took the polygraph exam because reporters persisted in demanding that I answer them about things that never occurred. The questions on the exam were formulated by the examiner not by me and Skills unlimited reviewed the questions before they were used. Skills Unlimited was invited to have the young woman also participate in reviewing the questions. The employee refused the test and the chance to review the questions before she took the exam. All of these facts were known to Mr. McCoy when he wrote his story.

It doesn't really matter Gary, I will not be voting for you anyway.

What reporters are you talking about? You refused to talk to KSN.

Sure does sound like a legit story since the St. Louis Post and KC Star picked it up. Nodler has claimed several times it's a non-story.

Randy,
"the Nodler meltdown"? that's classic..maybe one of your best lines ever. Gary shouldn't waste the space on this blog. No one cares what he says. He's finally showing his true colors to everyone and as I posted before, this isn't his first meltdown. Just ask the reporters who forced him to take the lie detector test. what a joke.

I do believe that Sen. Nodler would do well to volunteer to work as "community service" at places where he can truly demonstrate his concern for the disabled and for the under-privileged. His own explanation is phoney, and what really convinced me how wrong he is was his interview on KODE-TV. He sounded hateful, he spoke hateful words, and he looked hateful.

If he didn't have anything to cover up, why did he insist on having his brother answer all questions in this matter? It's like trying to talk to the President Jimmy Carter and getting Billy Carter.

Also why was his first instinct to have the tax payers pay for a lie detector test? The Highway Patrol money comes out of our pockets.

And if this young woman had an agenda, why isn't she on all the local news stations? The only quotes I see is in the paper.

What was Nodler doing at a movie in the afternoon on a Friday? MOST OF US HAVE TO WORK AT THAT TIME.

As a registered voter who usually leans towards the democratic ticket, I just want to thank Mr. Nodler for showing his true colors. Once again he has shown his lack of people skills and his innate inability to understand his constituents, which, by the way, do include the mentally/physically challenged. He REALLY needs to get a grip on his words and his actions.

I would vote for Porkey Pig if he ever ran on the Republican Ticket, but I would vote for a Democrat over Nodler.

I'm a Foghorn Leghorn man myself, but seriously, Nodler's true self was revealed at that theater and in the comments afterward. CYA is his middle name.

Gary Nodler didn't pay to see the movie on July 22. The manager of the Northstar 14 looked up the log for that day and presto -- Nodler used a pass given to him because he's a state lawmaker.

He complained about a free movie. What does that tell you about the man?

Gary, I work in substance abuse treatment and I know all about minimization and projection. Take personal responsibility for yourself.

A FREE movie on a WORKDAY AFTERNOON and he STILL complained?!?!? Hey Gary, did you miss the lesson in grade school about patience, compassion, and understanding the needs of other people? I believe we can combine minimization and projection and create a new condition called the "Nodler Complex."

I have known Gary Nodler my whole life. He is a decent guy. If the woman has nothing to hide why not take a lie detector test? Why not ask the theatre manager what happened? I can't believe such an issue has been made over this. Of course, it is all politics making it look like Mr. Nodler has no compassion for the handicapped. If my movie was interrupted I would have been griping too.
