Progressive Party candidate: WikiLeaks is a good thing

Nicholas Ladendorf, who ran as the Progressive Party candidate for Seventh District Congress, has no problem with the massive release of U. S. documents by WikiLeaks. He issued the following news release today:
Nicholas Ivan Ladendorf, Green/Progressive candidate in the 2010 race for Roy Blunt's US House seat, speaks out against WikiLeaks hysteria. In his new blog 'The Political Cartoonist' Ladendorf challenges idea that WikiLeaks is a danger to national security. The former candidate sums up the controversy as "Instead of writing opinions based on anonymous sources WikiLeaks released thousands of embarrassing documents and now the politicians want to smite WikiLeaks founder. "

Ladendorf is critical of the media despite seeing them as having the most to lose from this controversy, arguing that WikiLeaks protects us from journalists being the gatekeepers of public information "Clever journalist can read into what they're told and investigate further to find information. Clever politicians and staff can trick journalist into following false leads and continuing bogus narratives. "

Though attacking the media is normally seen as a right wing tactic, this is not the first time the self identified progressive. Earlier this year Ladendorf released letter to the media, accusing them of no longer caring about informing the public.
