Big money pours into Kansas City sales tax campaign

For all of the claims that Missouri's Wild West no limits campaign financing adds to transparency, you have so many situations like the one developing in Kansas City to disprove it.

On November 5, residents will vote on a 20-year, half-cent sales tax, to attract medical researchers to Kansas City.

Today, a new organization, the Government Policies Foundation was incorporated and immediately gave $196,000 to the also newly-formed and misleadingly named committee Citizens for Fairness.

While I am not saying these citizens do not believe in fairness, it would be nice if all such committees had to be properly labeled so we would know their true purpose.

Meanwhile, we have no idea if it is a group of like-minded people who joined together to form the Government Policies Foundation or if we have just one rich person trying to tilt the playing field in his favor.

Some transparency.
