Tim Jones to Koster: Help us fight gay marriage

(From Speaker of the House Tim Jones, R-Eureka)

House Speaker Tim Jones today delivered a letter to Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster requesting his office to defend the state constitution’s definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Jones issued the following statement in regard to his request:

“Chris Koster has a duty to defend our state’s constitution, whether he personally agrees with it or not. His job is to uphold and defend our constitution, not to make policy. He cannot just abandon his duties when they are politically inconvenient, and I think it is disgraceful that he is attempting to do so. Today, I have personally called upon Attorney General Koster and asked him, in writing, to defend our state’s constitution or to appoint someone in his place who is capable and able of doing so.”

Why is it always "the Feds need to get out of people's business" until it really IS something the government needs to leave alone? Who cares who wants to get married? I'm tired of using tax dollars to hire lawyers to fight against gay marriage--spend it chasing deadbeat parents from straight marriages who are behind in child support.
