Anyone expecting KODE to hire an experienced anchor to replace the departing Jimmy Siedlecki has to be disappointed in the station's help wanted in today's Joplin Globe.
It reads, "KODE-TV 12 has an immediate opening for an anchor for our 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts. We're searching for a news person who can convey warmth, personality, and authority while demonstrating an understanding of the information. Send resume to Larry Young, news director, KODE-TV, 1928 W. 13th St. Joplin, MO 64801, EOE (Equal Opportunity Employer)
Nowhere is there a mention of experience or actual news reporting ability, something that KOAM has in abundance in Dowe Quick and Rhonda Justice, and KSNF also is superior in that regard with Jim Jackson and Tiffany Alaniz.
KODE only had one anchor, Siedlecki, who was carrying the freight for the whole operation. Apparently, that was one too many.
KODE also does not seem to be in a hurry to find a replacement for Siedlecki since it has already known for several days that he will be leaving.

KODE has had problems for years retaining lead news people. Perhaps that says something about the management.
Over the years Nexstar has posted nearly all job openings in the paper. There is always a chance that there is a qualified person who may be in the area but may not be known to the management or actively searching for a change of jobs.
I don't have any problems with Nexstar advertising in the Globe for a news anchor, but there didn't seem to be much of an emphasis on the word news in that advertisement.
