Perhaps I haven't looked closely enough, but I still haven't seen any mention of the Missouri Southern State University academic signing in The Joplin Globe.
Again, if it were an athletic signing of one individual, it would merit a story of its own, but the signing of 35 of the top students in the area to four-year, full-ride scholarships does not merit any coverage.
Over the weekend, the Neosho Daily News devoted a significant segment of one of its sports page to a young female athlete signing with a college. While that does show the Daily is giving equal pay to women's athletics, which is commendable, the newspaper did not offer any coverage of the signing ceremony.
Probably local newspapers won't until the MSSU public relations department sends out a story and photos.
KSNF and reporter Brad Douglas are to be commended for offering what, as far as I can tell, has been the only coverage of the ceremony. It was featured both on the station's newscasts and on its website.

Continuing in the same vein, the Daily's special section on the Diamond High School graduation featured a photo page of memories of the students...with every picture showing one type of athletic endeavor or another. Of course, I am sure the reason for that is that the Daily had no file photos of academic events, or musical events, or just everyday snapshots, but the wrong message was being sent nonetheless.

KOAM gave sufficient coverage to the event as well.
