Missouri House defeats voucher bill

Congratulations to the Missouri House of Representatives for standing up to Governor Matt Blunt and soundly defeating a thinly veiled voucher bill 96-62 Thursday:

The legislation would have offered so-called tuition tax credits to people and businesses who donate money to non-profit organizations to provide scholarships for students in Kansas City and St. Louis.
The bill was sponsored by Rep. Carl Bearden, R-St. Charles, and co-sponsored by four area representatives, Marilyn Ruestman, R-Joplin, Steve Hunter, R-Joplin, Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, and Ed Emery, R-Lamar.

I will post information about how area legislators voted on the bill tonight
