Heat advisory extended through Wednesday

HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT WEDNESDAY...

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...THE MORNING WILL START OFF WARM AND HUMID
WITH TEMPERATURES QUICKLY CLIMBING THROUGH THE 80S. TEMPERATURES
WILL REACH THE MIDDLE 90S BY MIDDAY WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES
APPROACHING 100 DEGREES.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...THE HOT AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL
CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS
AND THE MISSOURI OZARKS.

* TEMPERATURES...DAILY MID AND LATE AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES WILL
RANGE FROM THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 103 DEGREES THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
SOMEWHAT HIGHER MOISTURE IS EXPECTED TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
WITH AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES RANGING FROM 100 TO 105
DEGREES IN MOST AREAS.

* IMPACTS...THOSE TAKING PART IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL BECOME SUSCEPTIBLE
TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
