C. J. Huff advice on Moore tornado: You need to take care of the people

PBS Newshour has an interesting story featuring Joplin leaders' advice to Moore, Oklahoma, as it recovers from the deadly tornado, including this excerpt from the section on Joplin Schools Superintendent C. J. Huff:

Although he has not been able to watch television coverage of the Oklahoma tornado because of the memories it would bring, Huff has this advice to the leaders in Moore: Concentrate on taking care of everyone's mental health. "The buildings will get rebuilt, but you need to take care of the people." He added that 1400 students in his district are still being treated for varying degrees of post-traumatic stress disorder.

He hasn't been able to watch the television coverage of Moore, but he can pocket a lot of cash talking about the Jopin tornado. I guess the color green eases traumatized feelings. It's disgusting, isn't it, when people take advantage of a miserable situation to further themselves? And they accused Mr. Turner of attempting to make a profit off this deal? Disgusting is too mild a word.

Can anyone confirm or find out if he gets to keep the money he receives for himself or does it go into the school account? I know what should happen but have not seen it addressed officially.

Take care of your people as in be sensitive to their losses and provide for their needs, or take care of your people as in teachers who are found to be resisters after two years will be reassigned or terminated? Judging from the flight of teachers out of Joplin, by choice and otherwise, I'd have to say he means the latter of the two possibilities. I just wonder who will be there to welcome my kids next year. A sea of unfamiliar, untested, unknowns. Good job, Dr. Huff, good job. Can't wait to see what another year of this nonsense brings us.
