EPA sets Green Design Workshop for Joplin's 20th Street

(From the City of Joplin)

The public is invited to attend two design workshops focusing on the green street design that is being planned along the 20th Street corridor.
The City of Joplin and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are hosting these sessions for the public to:
• learn about complete/green street design;
• learn more about opportunities for redevelopment along 20th Street; and
• to provide input on what complete green street elements should be included in the 20th Street design.
Workshops will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at Harmony Heights Church, 2025 Indiana Avenue; and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 in the basement conference room of Joplin City Hall, 602 South Main. Citizens can participate in the workshop that is most convenient for their schedule.
In addition, the project team from EPA and the City will be at Third Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 to talk with the public about the draft designs. All are welcome to attend this design viewing as well.
The Complete Green Streets program, an initiative of the Environmental Protection Agency, identifies and incorporates alternative design methods to calm traffic, beautify streets promote sustainable stormwater management techniques, and enhance multi-modal pedestrian traffic throughout the corridor.
