Update on your Public Safety and City Government services.

As The City of Carthage Mayor Dan Rife, Emergency Management Director, and City Officials continue to monitor the situation and review the recommended guidelines from the Federal and State Government, we are taking more precautionary actions within the City of Carthage to help ensure the safety of our staff and community.

Many City of Carthage services have been more restricted and access to some City buildings have been limited to the public. Below you will find what service restrictions, City building closures, meetings, and committees that have been postponed or canceled.

The Carthage Police Department is actively providing 24/7 law enforcement services and answering calls for service. We have categorized our response to calls for service in the following manner:

Priority calls for service will still require an immediate response. These may include:

-Crimes of physical violence.
-Crimes involving the mentally ill, the safety of children
or immediate hazards.
-Other calls in which an in-person response is required to prevent future violent acts.

Mid-level calls for service require a timely in-person response. These may include:
-Post-incident crime reports that require a crime scene investigation for a felony.
-Traffic-related crashes on public streets.

Phone response calls- Any past tense, low priority call which could be totally handled over the phone should be handled over the phone.

The Carthage Fire Department is continuing to provide 24/7 Fire services to our residents. The Fire Departments has limited access to the fire stations by closing the lobby and bay doors and only allowing Fire Department personnel access. If you need assistance please call 417-237-7100.

In conjunction with JASCO 911 dispatch center and Carthage Police Department Dispatchers. Anyone who calls and is needing an in person response will be asked two additional medical related screening questions when speaking to dispatch.
