Complete video- St. Louis mayor announces city's first COVID-19 death at press conference

During a press conference earlier today, Mayor Lyda Krewson announced the first COVID-19 death in St. Louis.

"This should be a wake up for call for all of us," Krewson said. "Anyone who may question whether or not this is a real thing, anyone who questions the gravity of this issue, we know COVID-19 is very, very serious and can be deadly.

It doesn't care how long you have been infected, where you got it or where you've been. It doesn't care if you're black or brown or white, rich or poor, how much money you have or where you live."

Krewson urged the public to "please stay home if you possibly can, go out for essential needs only. Help us slow the spread of COVID-19."

A stay-at-home order has gone into effect for St. Louis.
