Joplin police officers to handle more business by phone due to COVID-19 concerns

(From the Joplin Police Department)

In light of recent events nationwide, the Joplin Police Department will continue normal patrols, however the public will see some precautionary changes.

Our employees are exposed to a myriad of illnesses daily. Our primary concern as an agency is limiting the spread of any infectious disease, especially to the public we serve.

Rather than officers coming to the location for reports, officers will contact the reporting parties by phone when possible. This only applies to calls that are not in-progress, violent in nature, or where a suspect is still on scene.

Instead of coming to the station, we encourage people to phone into the police station first.
