Joplin High School Principal: The greatest high school on earth is going to have some kind of graduation

Though there are no certain plans at this point for graduation, Joplin High School seniors will pick up their caps, gowns and announcements 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21.

Steve Gilbreth, Joplin High School principal made the announcement during a video posted on the Joplin Schools Facebook page and the Jet HD YouTube channel.

Students whose last names begin with the letters A to M, are scheduled to pick up their items from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with students whose last names begin with the letters N to Z picking up theirs from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

The students can pick up their items by driving into the Joplin High School parking lot where they will be met by representatives from Jostens, the company that sells the items and get their packets, enabling the pickups to be made with proper social distancing.

Though there is no set plan for any type of graduation ceremony, Gilbreth offered some reassuring words to the students.

"We are working diligently to come up with the very best plan we can for graduation. I've been exploring all kinds of alternate plans."

Gilbreth said people had been bombarding him with ideas.

"Trust me. The greatest high school on earth is going to have some kind of graduation."
