Shaw: The City of Joplin creating plan to "start doing the things we're normally used to doing"

When the City of Joplin reopens, it will do so in steps, Mayor Gary Shaw said moments ago during a COVID-19 briefing.

Shaw said city staff has been working into the night to create a plan to "start doing the things we're normally used to doing," to the City Council.

City officials are waiting to hear how Gov. Mike Parson plans to begin reopening the state so city plans can be aligned with that plan.

The City of Joplin and the State of Missouri are under stay-at-home orders through May 3.

Careful there Mr Mayor.

"start doing the things we're normally used to doing,"

You might want to be sure that's really what you want.

The police will be busy and Randy Turner better get ready for all kinds of stupid criminals and stupid crimes to report.
