Auditor seeking information on how governor's working group on distributing federal funds will operate

(From State Auditor Nicole Galloway)

As the first of billions in federal relief payments begin flowing into state coffers, State Auditor Nicole Galloway is requesting information about a working group formed by Gov. Mike Parson to direct how those funds will be distributed.

Her office is performing oversight and a fiscal review of the state's response to COVID-19, which will examine the state's distribution of federal funding received under the CARES Act.

"Missourians expect this federal relief money to be spent appropriately, efficiently and transparently. This can only be accomplished with meaningful oversight," Auditor Galloway said.

"Taxpayers deserve to know basic information about this group, including who are its members and what will be the process for directing these relief funds."

On April 10, Gov. Parson announced the formation of the working group to direct the best use of the federal funding.

In a letter sent today to the Governor, Auditor Galloway said more information is necessary to understand how this working group will operate and be accountable to citizens. She is asking for general details about the members and operations of the group, as well as how the public will be able to access their meetings and recommendations.

Last month, Auditor Galloway announced that her office would examine the state's distribution of federal funding received under the CARES Act. On April 6, Galloway notified Gov. Parson about this oversight initiative, and on April 7, the State Auditor's Office began requesting information related to response efforts from state agencies. The state of Missouri will be receiving more than $2 billion in federal funding for assistance with the COVID-19 response and relief.

A copy of the letter is here.

Uh huh, good she will be on the look out for misspent money going to big donor republican companies. She is quite sharp on these things and someone needs to keep an eye on the less than scrupulous individuals that will be in charge. Too much money does not go to the ones really needing it, hospitals, unemployed, healthcare and food allotments for children and relief for the really small businesses that hire so many citizens of Missouri. Make sure it does not go to businesses that are in Missouri with the owners living out of state, does big Agriculture and Pharma ring a bell.

I hope and pray that Missouri voters are smart enough to elect her as the next governor.
