Twenty more referred for COVID-19 testing at Freeman, Mercy

Twenty more people were referred for testing for COVID-19 following screening at the Freeman Health call-in center, CEO Paula Baker said at today's briefing.

The 20 tests are divided between Freeman and Mercy and were out of 165 people who called in with symptoms they feared might be COVID-19.

So far, 47 people have been tested with 30 tests returning negative, six positive and the other 11 still pending.

No new COVID-19 patients had been admitted to Freeman since the previous day's briefing. Of the six who have tested positive, four are "recovering nicely at home," Baker said, while the other two remain hospitalized.

Baker provided an update on some of the services Freeman has implemented since COVID-19 first arrived, including telehealth services which have allowed patients to consult with physicians and nurse practitioners without having to come to the hospital or clinics and a new drive-through program which has allowed patients to have prescriptions filled and picked up.

Shelby Allen, Freeman Prevention and Wellness Coordinator, offered suggestions for improving safety at the workplace.

So, we only tested 20 out of 165? This is why we need at stay at home order. The sick are not adequately tested and people are still going out like nothing is happening.

Anonymous @4:59 PM: Well, you're right people should stay at home as much as possible, if and only if they truly socially isolate. Any cheating by any member of the household completely defeats this mitigation approach.

But depending on how tight the telephone screening is, the sick could be getting adequately tested. For example, if it appears someone is just suffering from allergies, and they're bad right now, you don't want to waste a precious test kit and the limited testing capacity we have right now.

Plus we just aren't finding very many cases (yet), the numbers right now make sense.

Why would people be tested if they didnt meet the CDC's criteria!! Its very easy to sit at home on your computers and act as if you would do things differently!! People need to think b4 they speak(first commenter) my entire family is working on the front line in the health field risking there health for yours!! They CANT TEST U PRIOR TO GETTING THE OK FROM THE CDC!! How about some gratitude or a thank you!!

How about not electing and appointing idiots and incompetents to important government positions? That way maybe the CDC and FDA and FMA would have a clue and be able to function.

Instead Trump's dim son-in-law is in now charge of the whole Trump virus response shit show?

Please.
