Services scheduled for victims of Neosho church shooting

A special service for the three victims in Sunday's shootings at the First Congregational Church in Neosho will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the church's prayer garden:

The Rev. Tom Thorne said the church will hold a special service at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in its prayer garden, with the community welcome to attend.

"We want the community to come together," Thorne said. "That's why we set it at 12:30, to give people time to worship in their own way and then get here, and for anyone in the congregation who wants to attend worship somewhere to have the opportunity to attend a full worship."

On Saturday, Thorne will officiate at a joint funeral for all three slain men.

They are Kernal Rehobson, 43, his uncle, Intenson Rehobson, 44, and a family friend, Kuhpes Jesse Ikosia, 53. All three were pastors or associate pastors of the Micronesian congregation that met in the church and all lived in Goodman, a few miles south of Neosho.

The funeral is set for Saturday morning in nearby Anderson.

AP also noted in its report that the accused killer, Eiken Elam Saimon, has a history of arrest for alcohol convictions.
KOAM reported Wednesday night that Saimon also had assault charges against him in his native country.
