Obama arrives in Southeast Missourian

Barack Obama's Town Hall meeting in Cape Girardeau has been posted on the Southeast Missourian's home page, there was no mention of it on there a couple of hours ago.

Respected veteran reporter Rudi Keller handled the coverage which included this passage:

When it is finally time to choose a president in November, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama told more than 200 people gathered into the cutting room at Thorngate Ltd. Tuesday, the choice will be clear.

President Bush will not be on the ballot, he said, but his policies will. U.S. Sen. John McCain, the likely Republican nominee, has shown little inclination to change the policies that have put the U.S. into an expensive war in Iraq, cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and seen the price of gasoline rise to levels that make driving to work an expensive necessity, he said.

"John McCain is running for George Bush's third term," Obama told the crowd of Thorngate workers, invited Democratic activists, city dignitaries and people who came to see the candidate without any real hope of hearing him speak. The event was billed as an invitation-only town hall meeting, but Obama's campaign team allowed about 60 people who had been waiting outside for a glimpse to come in.

The Southeast Missourian put together an excellent package on the Obama visit.

To quote the article "The event was billed as an invitation-only town hall meeting, but Obama's campaign team allowed about 60 people who had been waiting outside for a glimpse to come in."

This makes me want to puke. An invitation only. Here a guy is running for President, and to see and hear him is by invitation only. Do the Democrats think they have a private exclusive club. Apparently they do. They want the votes, but don't get too close you might have bad breath. Sounds like the private fund raiser in the Branson area for Jay Nixon. Just send us your money, but stay out of the way.

Oh my goodness, if anon 1:49 is a Republican, are you the pot or the kettle. President Bush's visit to Joplin in 2006 was an invitation-only event and there was no way in the world they would have let "people who had been waiting outside for a glimpse to come in." Most political events with top political officials these days are invitation only. The Republicans have perfected the invitation-only town hall meeting and unfortunately for us, the Democrats have copied it. For heaven's sake don't go criticizing Democrats for doing what they learned from Republicans.

So its ok to keep the voter out of a meeting with a candidate? I don't think so. Copying the losers in the GOP is a real way to build a voter base isn't it? Its all about MONEY, nothing else. After the election no one goes to see the voters again, they are only something to be put up with during a campaign.

I'm sick of both parties, sick to the core. I've been a Democrat all my life and will never vote for another Republican after the damage this yoyo in the White House has done to our country and the world. But just how many people are sick and tired enough of the whole thing this time to stay home and not vote?

I'm afraid a bunch of them.
