Winter weather advisory in effect for Joplin area

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER


WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING DRIZZLE WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL

MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT.



* SHORT TERM TRENDS...SEVERAL REPORTS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE AND

RELATED TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE FORT SCOTT

AND NEVADA AREAS. THE FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL EXPAND SOUTH AS

TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL BELOW

FREEZING ALONG THE INTERSTATE 44 CORRIDOR BY 9 PM.



* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL IMPACT AREAS

FROM SOUTHEAST KANSAS INTO THE MISSOURI OZARKS THIS EVENING.



* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A LIGHT GLAZE OF ICE WILL DEVELOP ON EXPOSED

OBJECTS AND UNTREATED ROADS.



* IMPACTS...THE FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE SLICK SPOTS TO DEVELOP

ON UNTREATED ROADS...AND ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE FROM NORTH TO SOUTH ACROSS

THE AREA THIS EVENING.
