In a news release issued today, the Missouri Republican Party characterizes Claire McCaskill's vote in favor of the Keystone Pipeline as stemming from her worry about November. Of course, it could be because that was what she felt was the right vote, but in these days of demonizing politicians on the other side, no one can ever admit that someone did something for anything other than base motives. The Missouri GOP news released is printed below.
Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party, released the following statement regarding Claire McCaskill’s election year vote on the Keystone pipeline:
“No amount of election year backtracking can erase Claire McCaskill’s record of voting in lock-step with Barack Obama on energy issues. Missourians know she voted for job-killing cap-and-trade, she voted to allow the EPA to regulate carbon dioxide, she voted for crushing new regulations on coal-fired power plants, she opposes drilling in ANWR, and she voted against expanded off-shore drilling. Her vote on Keystone is not indicative of her supposed independence from Obama; rather, it shows how worried she is about her campaign.”
