(From the Jason Kander campaign)
Secretary of State candidate Jason Kander today announced that General Wesley K. Clark (Ret.) has endorsed his campaign for Secretary of State.
"I want Missouri's veterans to know that I fully endorse Jason Kander's candidacy for Secretary of State. Shane Schoeller's attempt earlier this year to eliminate absentee voting by mail in Missouri is offensive to those of us - like Jason Kander and myself - who have voted absentee while serving our country away from home,” said Clark, the former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. “About 320,000 Missourians, including almost 12,000 military personnel, mailed in an absentee ballot in 2008. Shane Schoeller's partisan and extremist plans would deny them the chance to do it again. Jason Kander led Republicans and Democrats to defeat Schoeller's bill, and I know Jason will preserve the voting rights of service members when he is Secretary of State. As a retired General, I ask you to choose former Army Captain Jason Kander over career politician Shane Schoeller to be Missouri's next Secretary of State."
Clark, a retired four-star general, has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Defense Distinguished Service Medal (five awards), silver star, bronze star, purple heart, honorary knighthoods from the British and Dutch governments, and numerous other awards from other governments.
