Huff Administration spends $50,000 for special project coordinator

With the possibility of President Obama coming to Joplin to see the six-and-a-half-mile ribbon, it became more important than ever for the Joplin R-8 School District and the C. J. Huff Administration to fill the special projects coordinator position.

So important that reportedly newly-hired Whitney Warren will earn in the neighborhood of $50,000 for a job that was advertised for $32,000.

The $50,000 expense comes at a time when the district has eliminated all of its part-time reading instructors, but then again, there are times when it seems like the Joplin R-8 School District has more special projects than reading taking place.

That's more than most of the teachers make!
That's certainly more than the secretaries make and they put up with and do an awful lot.
I'm not sure who Whitney Warren is or what her experience and qualifications are but given the situation, that's way too much for someone who isn't teaching.
School Board!!! Did you all approve this?

Are you sure that isn't salary plus the cost of benefits/insurance, etc?

Unlikely the additional $18k would be benefits/insurance package since that amounts to almost 60%.

It's interesting they had to pay that much over the original salary offered to get somebody in that job. It costs a lot to get people to put up with the likes of C.J. Huff and Kim Vann.

$50,000! Whitney Warren is/was one of the Career Path Coordinators. She has a BA from MSSU and plenty of district paid professional development. Check out employment history on her Linkedin profile. Whitney has strong family connections in the community.

This is deplorable. That is what the career path people were soaking the district for the last two years. CJ probably didn't want to cut the salary of the daughter/step-daughter of the Newton Cty Sheriff and the owner of the Joplin Regional Business Journal. They may not think highly of him. It doesn't matter that in two weeks he's going to be facing a whole room full of people who have advanced degrees and years of experience who don't make that much, and they are responsible for far more than Miss Whitney will ever be. They for sure aren't going to be thinking too highly of him.

I wonder what he will say this year? Another lecture about how good he really is? How wrong they are? Will he have his little spies around the room this year? Will the board actually face the staff this year, or will they and the JSAB staff hide behind a power point introduction again like last year? There is little they can say for themselves. Perhaps it would be best, after all, to just skip it altogether.

And admin wonders why we don't like them. Hmm. What could the problem be? Oh yes. Six years without a raise worth mentioning, just to have a college BA in a nonteaching job surpass us for pay right out of the gate. That's just one reason out of many. Then we hear that one of her fellow career path coaches without any degree is doing the ISD room. Is that even legal? Did he retain his same pay? We can only wonder how many more of them are left and how much they are getting paid compared to those who actually work with the kids in the most meaningful way of all--to help them learn.

Not to mention a smack in the face to the girl who was in that position that they told there was no way they could pay more. Good thing she left when she did it sounds like.

All about who you know with Joplin. House of cards will fall.

She does NOT make that much.

If she doesn't make that much, then it's easy enough to look it up. Maybe Randy can put the link on here that he had before where you could look up salaries.
I went to here LinkedIn page and it did say that she was a career path coordinator and her previous experience would make her a good candidate for this job but I'm not so sure about the $50,000 part.

I found the link Mr. Turner had from the St. Louis newspaper where you can look up teacher salaries. I found other career path coordinators in there but not Whitney Warren. Any ideas?

Find out her salary? Call the school office and ask. When they tell you no..post that persons name here.
