Joplin man sentenced to 20 years for Economy Inn and Suites murder

Kosaksy Phillip, 26, Joplin, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday for the August 29, 2018 murder of Diamond J. Bradley, 33, Joplin, at the Economy Inn and Suites, 1700 W. 30th Street.

Phillip entered an Alford plea meaning he conceded there was enough evidence to convict him, but he is not admitting his guilt.

The original charge against Phillip was first degree murder, but the charge was amended to second degree as part of a plea agreement with the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

The autopsy showed Bradley was shot four times, including once in the chest, once in the hip and twice in the lower leg.

At the time of the murder, Phillip was awaiting trial on felony drug and tampering charges.
