Joplin woman whose dead husband was in the freezer taken into custody

A Joplin woman charged with felony abandonment of a corpse after police found the body of her husband, dead for almost a year, in a freezer in her bedroom at 2602 Vermont Avenue was taken into custody without incident, according to a Joplin Police Department news release.

The U. S. Marshals Service assisted local police in making the arrest, which took place at 814 S. Jackson Avenue.

Barbara J. Watters, 67, is being held in the Jasper County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond..

A ridiculous amount of bond! This is a situation that is going to clog up the judicial system. All this woman needs is house arrest until they find out more. Not like she can fly to Brazil!
