Joplin R-8 Board acts on show choir uniforms, holds closed session on real estate

The Joplin R-8 Board of Education was scheduled to act on a proposal for show choir uniforms and hold a closed session to discuss real estate earlier this evening at the Memorial Education Building.

The cost of the bid the administration recommended was $30,892 for  performance costumes for Touch of Class Show Choir with 52 members and Sound Dimension Show Choir with 44 members from Gail McInnis Productions, according to board documentation.

The bid was the highest of the three received. Southeastern Apparel had the low bid of $21,604, but did not have the jumpsuit that had been specified, according to the documentation.

Dance Sophisticates submitted a bid of $28,342.

On the documentation, High School Principal Steven Gilbreth said, Gail McInnis is a bit higher, but we have used them in the past and have always been pleased with their quality and timeliness of fulfilling our orders. Also the costumes custom fitted and some of the costume pieces are coordinating, so it is important to use the same company so materials match."
