Joplin Municipal Court hearings postponed due to coronavirus concerns

(From the City of Joplin)

Due to the emerging rapidly evolving public health emergency of Coronavirus-19, the Presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Jasper County issued an Administrative Order postponing Joplin’s Municipal Court hearings for defendants not in custody until at least March 27, 2020. The Supreme Court of Missouri has extended the postponement until at least April 3, 2020, unless a future order of the Court is put into effect for a later date.

Hearings will be rescheduled, and defendants will receive a summons in the mail for their new court date.

Defendants in custody will have their hearings through videoconferencing. Questions regarding this should be directed to the Municipal Court by calling 417-627-2930.

Anyone wanting to pay a fine will be able to do so through the court office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To avoid lines and/or having to mail in a payment, the Court encourages the use an alternative payment method, such as the online payment site of www.municipalonlinepayments.com/Joplinmo, which is available 24 hours a day.

Access to make phone payments is also available 24 hours, seven days a week by calling the toll free number of 1-800-444-1187 (bilingual representatives available). Payments can also be placed in the drop box, located at the west side of the Justice Building. It is not advisable to place cash in the drop box.

If a payment is not allowed through the online service and/or one does not wish to use an alternative method of payment, please contact the court office during business hours at 417-627-2930.
