Springfield University Plaza laying off 112 workers, possibly permanently

Springfield University Plaza at 333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway is laying off 112 workers, according to a WARN notice posted this morning on the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development website.

The layoffs are intended to be temporary and are because of the coronavirus, according to the notice.







Whether they will be temporary is still uncertain, the notice said.

"Due to the unprecedented nature of the pandemic, we cannot guarantee that they will not be permanent and cannot guarantee a timeline for recall, if employees will be recalled at all."
