Post-Dispatch: Ed Emery's chief of staff among those who tested positive for COVID-19

The chief of staff for Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, is one of those whose positive COVID-19 tests forced the suspension of Missouri State Senate special session meetings, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Neither Emery nor his chief of staff were at the Branson retreat that is suspected of being a possible starting point for those contracting the coronavirus.

The planning session was or the 2021 legislative session. Emery, who was term-limited, will no longer be in the Senate.

Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, told the Post-Dispatch on Saturday that his chief of staff had tested positive “a few days ago.”

“He hasn’t said anything to me about knowing where he might’ve gotten it,” Emery said. “He’s doing fine. Says he’s fatigued.

“But other than that, I think he’s doing well,” Emery said. Asked if his aide was at the retreat in Branson, Emery said, “No, he would not have been, because I wasn’t there.”

Schatz said the retreat occurred last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
