Carl Junction High School students honor veterans, dedicate honor chair for missing service members

(From Carl Junction Schools)

Carl Junction High School students continued a tradition of honoring our nation's veterans even during a pandemic.

The students planned and executed an event to include veterans while keeping everyone safe and socially distanced.

The veterans attended in-person while Junior High and High School students along with the community tuned in to the live-stream from their classrooms, offices, and homes.

The program was planned by the high school service-learning students, led by Peyton Grimes. The Carl Junction High School Band and The Dynamics were joined by Mary McWethy, Sharon Clark, Sam Kim, Alex Baker, and guest speaker Roger Koch in presenting the Veterans Day Assembly.

A highlight of the event was a video of the Honor Chair dedication.

Since WWI, more than 92,000 American soldiers are unaccounted for in foreign countries. This unoccupied seat is dedicated to the memory of these brave men and women and to the sacrifices each made in serving this Country.

Thank you to the Dawson Family for making this possible, especially Jonathan Dawson for his hard work and dedication to our military, community, and school district.

The Honor Chair sits on the front row at the 50 yard-line in Bulldog Stadium.
