(From the Carthage R-9 School District)

The Carthage R-9 Board of Education voted to hire two new administrators for the 2021-2022 school year during the March Board of Education meeting.

Angela Holman was named Carthage High School principal and Lindsay Mikhail was named Fairview Elementary and 6th Grade Center assistant principal.

Angela Holman has served as an assistant principal at Carthage High School (CHS) since 2017. Before assuming the role of CHS assistant principal, she taught FACS in the district for 17 years.

Mrs. Holman is replacing Matt Huntley, who is taking the role of Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for the Carthage R-9 School District next school year.

“It's my absolute pleasure to follow the positive leadership example set by my long-time mentors and friends, Mr. Matt Huntley and Mrs. Kandy Frazier,” says Mrs. Holman.

“I am humbled and honored to continue serving the students alongside the faculty and staff of Carthage High School. Together, we will continue making positive strides serving the Carthage community by providing CHS students with a solid education and strong foundation. I'm grateful for this tremendous responsibility and opportunity!”

Mrs. Holman graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor’s in Science – Secondary FACS (2000), from WWU with a Master’s in Education Administration (2005), and from MSU with a Specialist in Educational Administration (2017).

Lindsay Mikhail is replacing current Fairview Elementary / 6th Grade Center assistant principal, Michelle Hensley, who will be taking over as Fairview Elementary principal.

Mrs. Mikhail has 10 years of experience in education, having taught 7th grade English and science, 7th and 8th grade Project Lead the Way, Principles of Engineering, and Introduction to Career and Technical Education at Carthage Technical Center, as well as serving as a junior high volleyball and basketball coach.

Says Mikhail, “I have a deep respect for the Carthage community and this school district, and I relish the opportunity to step into this role. I am honored to have the opportunity to learn from and lead with Ms. Jacobs, Mrs. Hensley, and the staff at the 6th Grade Center and Fairview.”

Mrs. Mikhail graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master’s of Science in Educational Administration from Missouri State University.

District Superintendent Dr. Mark Baker says, “Mrs. Mikhail and Mrs. Holman have already proven they are fantastic leaders. We are very excited to have both of them in their new roles.”
