Politico reports that Eric Schmitt, our newly elected senator, has wasted no time irritating his fellow Republican senators.
Schmitt is pushing for a seat on the Judiciary Committee, but he would have to have a waiver to join the committee since his fellow Missouri GOP Senator Josh Hawley is already on the committee.
In addition to the waiver, he would have to convince another senator to drop off the committee, so Schmitt has called senators, including Thom Tillis, R-North Carolina, and Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, asking them if they would be willing to leave the committee to make room for him.
“This is something the Missouri senators need to work out,” Blackburn said in an interview.
“I’m the only Republican woman on the Senate Judiciary Committee and I don’t intend to come off the committee,” she added.
