Judge denies KODE camera in courtroom for preliminary hearing for accused killer of Amazon delivery driver

Lawrence County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Kasper won't allow cameras in the courtroom for the preliminary hearing of Thomas Coy, 64, Wentworth, who is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the February 5 shooting death of Amazon delivery driver Jasmine Sky Taylor, 23, Joplin.

The pool camera for the hearing would have been KODE. No requests were made to have still cameras in the courtroom.

In a terse, handwritten note, Kasper wrote the following:

Request for camera in the courtroom for preliminary hearing is denied in this case. News personnel are allowed in the courtroom as space permits.

Coy's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6. He entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment Monday. Judge Don Trotter denied a request for bond reduction. Coy is being held without bond.
