Burlingame: Carol Stark had information on Rohr 911 call "a long time ago"

Why people confide in this man, I have no idea, but regular Globe "guest columnist" Anson Burlingame, who is also a confidant of Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff and the city of Joplin's master developer David Wallace, says Globe Editor Carol Stark has had the information about a 911 call made from former City Manager Mark Rohr's home "a long time ago."

The revelation came in the response Burlingame made to a comment left on his blog, concerning the 911 call, which was the subject of the lead story in today's Globe and apparently also was investigated by Osage Beach lawyer Tom Loraine.

As an aside, I told Carol that you had raised the issue in the semi-public (this small blog) at least domain and that I had responded. I also knew that she had the police report a long time ago as well. You would expect that from any good newspaper who has reporters watching those public documents all the time.
Why she chose to put the information on the front page now is none of my business either. All I know is the Globe decided to report the matter after getting some of the Loraine information by other means, than directly from council, as should have been done early on, when the “secret report” was kept secret, in part.
After that, Burlingame, saying this accusation against Rohr has now been knocked down, challenges his reader to come up with something else against Rohr or Wallace-Bajjali.

I'd like to think that when the town's newspaper chooses to publish pertinent information is all of our business. That's the point of having a NEWSPAPER--to report the news. That Rohr is accused or suspected of spousal abuse in two towns, at least, is my business in that it lends credence to the accusations of his abusive nature with employees. When you believe you are infallible and the rest of the world is at your command, you do not exhibit a strong set of values or leadership. That Stark held this back until another of her Saturday morning breakfast buddies was safely away says much about her, also.

You don't have to be a detective to figure out why Stark released the info now, it's because Rohr can't benefit the Globe or her anymore.

Indeed.

It will be interesting to observe whether Anson continues to be published by the Globe after revealing that (according to Anson) the Globe editor had the goods to exonerate Rohr and sat on them. Really, how could anyone think that Rohr was not totally able to debunk whatever rumors had been circulating about that alleged 911 call and police response to his house with him present at the scene.

Stark left Rohr twisting in the Joplin rumor mill for what? Anson doesn't even think he should be wondering about the how and why of that.

What is Burlingame's native language?

It obviously isn't English.

First off Randy, I don't appreciate you referring to me as a "reader" of Anson Burlinglame. That was totally uncalled for. I went to his blog because you referenced him as an idiot, and I wanted to see for myself. After reading his "rants" and arguing his version of the facts regarding Rohr's police report and Mike Woolston's shady business practices, I must agree with your assessment. Near the end of our debate after I had proved him wrong, he correctly identified me as a Turner Report reader. He sees no problem with the police chief referring to Rohr's 21 year old daughter that made the 911 call as a kid "jumping the gun" or the fact that Woodin didn't call him out on it. Why did she not ask Allison Sunday, (director of the Lafayette House), how many abused women recant their story when police arrive? A good reporter would have. I did not wish to engage him further as it is futile, he is an ass that referred to a teacher as a fat slob wearing flip flops. Where does that put Carolyn Stark, pleasantly plump because she prints his drivel? I admitted being a reader of yours but I will not take being called a reader of his as that is akin to a cussing.

You are right. That was a horrible thing to say about you. I don't know what gets into me sometimes.

police academy 101- never investigate a possible crime involving your supervisor-call an outside agency

why is this not being investigated by anyone?

The Globe reported that the chief of police claims that Rohr never even spoke with him about the 911 call. Isn't that the whole point of Mr. Rohrs intimidating and forceful leadership tactics? He doesn't have to say anything. Also, why has no one questioned the sudden naming of the chief of police by Mr. Rohr shortly after Mr Lane retired. As I recall there was no application, or search process at all in naming a new police chief.
