The Joplin area will see something during this election year it has not seen for a long time- general election races for state legislature seats.
Two Democratic filings have taken place in just the last few minutes.
Charles "Hugh" Shields, Joplin, will run for the 161st District seat currently held by Bill White, R-Joplin.
