Wind advisory issued for Joplin/Springfield areas

STRONG NORTH WINDS LATE TONIGHT AND SUNDAY...

.A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL STRENGTHEN ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
LATE TONIGHT AND THEN TRACK EAST ACROSS THE ARKLATEX REGION ON
SUNDAY. AS THIS OCCURS...A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP SOUTH
THROUGH THE AREA FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. STRONG
NORTHERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH WILL DEVELOP BEHIND THIS
FRONT...WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH. MEANWHILE...RAIN WILL CHANGE
TO SNOW FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. WIND DRIVEN SNOW
AND LOW VISIBILITIES ARE THEREFORE EXPECTED TO CAUSE ADDITIONAL
IMPACTS...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST OF THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 6 PM CDT SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WIND
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 6 PM CDT SUNDAY.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...STRONG AND GUSTY NORTH WINDS WILL
  DEVELOP AREA WIDE BEHIND A PASSING COLD FRONT FROM LATE TONIGHT
  INTO SUNDAY MORNING. THE STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL THEN
  CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY SUNDAY BEFORE DIMINISHING AROUND
  SUNSET.

* WINDS...SUSTAINED NORTH WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40
  TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED.

* IMPACTS...CROSSWINDS ON EXPOSED ROADS MAY AFFECT HIGH PROFILE
  VEHICLES. OUTDOOR OBJECTS THAT ARE NOT SECURED MAY BE BLOWN
  AROUND.

  WIND DRIVEN SNOW AND LOW VISIBILITIES ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO
  CAUSE ADDITIONAL IMPACTS...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST OF THE
  HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 MPH OR GUSTS TO
45 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING
DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA
CAUTION.
